DVA is developing a 5-year Research Strategy that will provide a clear framework that guides future research commissioned by DVA.
We know that good policy starts with good evidence. That’s why the Government is committed to strengthening research to help us better understand the experiences of veterans and families of veterans, so we can respond to those needs more effectively.
We are seeking input from health providers to help identify and confirm research priorities, so we can better understand things such as:
- real-world needs and service delivery/lived experience perspective
- views on what research issues that matter most to veterans and the families of veterans
- what unmet needs or gaps exist in current veterans, and the families of veterans supports and services, and
- suggested research topics and validation of which research priorities should be considered highest priority for the veteran community.
Input from health professionals will help ensure that our research is systematic, logical and directly translatable into evidence-based policy, program and service design.
It is envisaged that our 5-year Research Strategy will span a wide range of research domains, reinforcing DVA’s commitment to advancing knowledge and delivering meaningful improvements to support the health and wellbeing of veterans and families of veterans.
You are invited to share your views through a survey being run by Phoenix Australia on behalf of DVA. Your voice matters - help us shape the research issues and priorities that matter most to the veteran community.
The survey will be open until 18 May 2026, and you can respond via the following link: https://redcap.link/DVAResearchStrategy
