The impact of military personnel extends far beyond their role in defending our nation. Their service leaves a lasting mark on those they protect, those closest to them and the broader communities they’re a part of.
The Saluting Their Service Commemorative (STS) Grants Program provides schools, councils, ex-service and community organisations the opportunity to honour and pay tribute to their service by sharing and preserving Australia’s wartime heritage.
92 community organisations have been announced as grant recipients of the 2025–26 STS Grants Program Batch Two round and will share in more than $2.194 million.
The awarded recipients comprise of 67 community grants (up to $10,000) totalling $461,356.51 and 25 major grants (up to $150,000) totalling $1,732,724.90.
One of the funded projects aims to commemorate Lake Tyers Aboriginal service members through construction of a War Memorial, giving the local community a space to honour and reflect on locals who have served in Australia's defence forces.
There are memorial construction and restorations projects that will also receive funding, as well as the refurbishment and landscaping of commemorative and reflective gardens, walks, murals, and a myriad of digital and educational projects.
Applications are currently open for Batch One of the 2026-27 STS Grants Program and will close on 29 July 2026.
We encourage eligible organisations to apply, putting forward commemorative projects and activities to help ensure our military history and the memory and legacy of our service personnel is shared and passed on to future generations of Australians.
