Almost $3 million in funding has been awarded to 46 community-led initiatives through the 2024–25 Veteran Wellbeing Grants Program, supporting a holistic approach to veteran and family wellbeing that includes connection, purpose, and community.
The grants are designed to foster wellbeing and recognise that good health includes strong social connections, mental wellness, and a sense of purpose.
From metropolitan centres to regional towns, these projects reflect the diverse needs of the veteran community. Among the 46 initiatives are the:
-
Resilience Shield Comedy Project (WA) that blends humour and resilience training for veterans
-
Trojan’s Trek Foundation (QLD) providing wilderness-based peer support across multiple states
-
Our Mate-Ship Ltd. (NSW) offering hands-on boat restoration workshops for transitioning veterans, and
-
Ringwood RSL (VIC) with eGaming sessions to help build peer networks and mental wellbeing.
The Veteran Wellbeing Grants Program provides funding to eligible organisations for projects that enhance health and social wellbeing, build community capacity, and raise awareness of issues faced by veterans. Grants are offered under two streams:
-
Stream A – Small Grants (up to $50,000): for local, practical projects that create safe, inclusive spaces for veterans and families.
-
Stream B – Large Grants ($50,001–$200,000): for broader-scale initiatives delivering impactful wellbeing support.
Applications for the next round will open later this year.
