Applications are now open for the 2027 round of the Long Tan Bursary.
Eligible children and grandchildren of Vietnam veterans can apply for up to $12,000 over 3 years to assist with the cost of their education at an Australian university, TAFE college or registered training organisation.
The bursary scheme is named in honour of the Battle of Long Tan, one of the largest battles fought by Australians in the Vietnam War. Its anniversary on 18 August is now commemorated as Vietnam Veterans’ Day.
This year, Australia marks 60 years since the Battle of Long Tan.
Since its inception 25 years ago, the Long Tan Bursary has supported more than 1,000 children and grandchildren of Vietnam veterans to further their education.
Recipients have studied across an impressive array of fields, including engineering, nursing, business, law and the arts.
More information on the Long Tan Bursary, including eligibility criteria and how to apply, can be found on the Long Tan Bursary page.
The Long Tan Bursary scheme is administered by the Australian Veterans' Children Assistance Trust (AVCAT) on behalf of DVA.
