Sergeant Andrew Russell, SASR, was my husband, my soulmate, and the love of my life.
A patrol commander, sniper, and parachute instructor, he served Australia with courage, humility, and unwavering dedication. Andrew served in East Timor, Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan.
Andrew became the first Australian soldier killed in Afghanistan, making the ultimate sacrifice while doing what he believed in.
Andrew never had the chance to hold his daughter in his arms; she was born while he was on his last fatal patrol.
He is missed every day.
