Winners announced for the 2025 Anzac Day Schools’ Awards

Established in 2001, the Anzac Day Schools’ Awards is our annual competition recognising the brilliant work of students and educators, across the country, who engage with veterans and current serving personnel to gain a deeper understanding of military service and honour Australia’s wartime history.

We encourage innovative approaches to content creation across a range of media, be it through video, podcast, website, artwork, diorama, or even a garden or memorial, to name a few. Each year we’re continually impressed with the creative submissions students and teachers present. Winning schools share in $39,000 of prize money and have their entries highlighted on our Anzac Portal.

We’d like to congratulate this year’s National winner, Nagle College, in Bairnsdale, Victoria.

The Year 9 students of Nagle College began their delve into our military history in the most wonderfully personal way, through a visit from a Second World War veteran. Inspired, it proved the perfect starting point to explore this year’s theme Remembering Gallipoli: 110 years, with students beginning their research focused on the unique experiences of their local East Gippsland Gallipoli veterans.

Showcasing their findings through creative writing, the students crafted detailed diaries, letters, journals, biographies and notebooks as a tribute to the service and sacrifice of their community’s Gallipoli veterans, taking exceptional care in every part of their construction.

Upon completion, the collected works were proudly placed on display for the entire school, providing a focal point to easily explore and share these stories, and to ensure the legacy of our Gallipoli veterans is not forgotten.

Year after year, we marvel at the ingenuity, creativity and heartfelt submissions we receive from students and teachers, and this year’s entries were no exception. We’d like to thank all who sent through a submission.
