Expressions of interest are now open for the inaugural Board of Directors of the new national peak body for veteran serving organisations.
The establishment of the peak body delivers on recommendation 89 of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide and follows extensive consultation with the veteran community.
The independent, member-based, not-for-profit organisation will help build a stronger, more connected and sustainable veteran support sector that will work collaboratively to improve outcomes for veterans and families of veterans.
It will provide veteran serving organisations with a clear and consistent voice on issues affecting the veteran community while preserving the independence and identity of individual organisations. It will also strengthen collaboration and support continuous improvement across the sector.
Expressions of interest are now open for an inaugural Chair and up to three Directors to help establish the organisation and guide its early operations.
The Board will play an important role in establishing the governance, systems, partnerships and organisational capability needed for the peak body’s long-term success.
The recruitment process is being managed independently, with an independent selection panel responsible for shortlisting and final selection.
Applications are encouraged from people with a broad range of skills, backgrounds and experience who can contribute to strong governance and demonstrate a commitment to improving outcomes for veterans and families of veterans.
Director positions will be voluntary and unpaid, with reasonable approved expenses reimbursed.
Expressions of interest close on Sunday 22 November 2026.
