  • Limit your video to approximately 30 seconds.
  • Introduce yourself (first name only) and where you are from (city/town/community).
  • Be yourself and speak from the heart. Authenticity and personal reflections are more important than polished presentation.
  • Be respectful and focus on remembrance.
  • Hold the camera steady. You can record your video in selfie-style or ask someone to film.
  • Record your video in a well-lit environment.
  • Please record your video in ‘portrait’ style.
  • Dress in respectful attire and take consideration of the background for the video.
  • Easily upload your video or photo straight from your device to the submission form.

Don’ts

  • Please do not include music/audio in the background, or offensive/discriminatory language in your submission.
  • Please do not discuss politics or personal promotion in your submission.
  • Please do not advertise or promote any organisation and limit the use of company logos or promotional products. The reflection should be personal to you.

Questions to ask yourself for your reflection (we suggest you focus on one question)

  • What does Remembrance Day mean to you personally or within your family/community?
  • Is there a story, memory, or tradition that you would like to share that helps you honour those who served?
  • What values or lessons do you think we can carry forward today from the service and sacrifice of past generations?
  • How do you or your community choose to remember and pay respect on days of commemoration?
  • What message would you like to pass on to younger Australians about why remembrance matters?

All submissions will be reviewed by DVA prior to publication. Sending through a submission does not guarantee approval.

Non-compliance with our ‘Permission to Use Material’ will automatically void any submission.

DVA reserves the right to reject any submission.

If approved, posts will appear on the Wall of Remembrance. DVA may choose to re-post select reflection on its social media channels.
