For 36 years, the Royal Australian Navy shaped my life, values, and sense of purpose. From a young sailor to a Navy Captain, I was privileged to serve alongside extraordinary Australians at sea, on operations, and ashore. As a Clearance Diver, I witnessed the courage, professionalism, and sacrifice of those who answered our nation’s call, often in the most challenging circumstances. Service taught me resilience, humility, and the enduring strength of teamwork. This reflection honours the shipmates, mentors, and friends who shared that journey, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to Australia. Their legacy endures.
