Anthony's reflection
On completing the Kokoda trail last year I discovered a forgotten relative on the wall of remembrance at the Australian memorial park in Port Moresby. Lt Roy George Mader S38427 was part of the Australian New Guinean Administrative Unit during WW2. After research it was discovered that Lt Mader was sadly reported KIA on new years eve 31/12/1942 when he and his 6 Papuan police were killed by loyal Japanese natives not long after landing on the island of Misima, he was only 29 years old. Leaving his wife of 2 years Beatrice Mary and no children.
