Register for allied health consultation webinars

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) is hosting a series of webinars to provide veterans, families of veterans, ex-service organisations, advocates and health providers with more information about the changes to allied health arrangements for Veteran Card holders.

The webinars will provide an overview of the arrangements that will come into effect on 1 July 2027 and offer participants the opportunity to ask questions.

The changes will make it easier for veterans to access allied health care by removing the current 12-session treatment cycle and reducing the need for GP appointments and repeat referrals. A new annual $5,000 review threshold will help ensure treatment remains appropriate and effective, while those who need higher levels of clinically necessary care will continue to receive it. Veteran Card holders eligible for the Special Rate Disability Pension or Totally and Permanently Incapacitated Pension, as well as those who have been determined to be catastrophically injured, will be exempt from the threshold.

A range of sessions are being held throughout September. You can register for the session most relevant to you through our consultation portal. You may register for more than one session.

  • Veterans and families of veterans – 6 – 7 pm (AEST), Thursday 17 September
  • Ex-service organisations and advocates – 6 – 7 pm (AEST), Wednesday 23 September
  • Health providers – 6 – 7 pm (AEST), Wednesday 30 September

Participants are invited to submit questions in advance through to help shape webinar discussions and ensure sessions focus on the topics of greatest interest to attendees. Questions can be submitted during the registration process.

If you missed the virtual community information session held on 2 September, a recording is now available.

To support stakeholders participating in the consultation process, DVA has also published a range of resources, including frequently asked questions (FAQs), a factsheet and discussion paper.

The new arrangements will support Veteran Card holders to continue receiving clinically appropriate allied health care and achieve positive health outcomes. Feedback received through consultation activities will help inform the detailed design and implementation of the new arrangements.

You can register your interest to stay informed about future allied health consultation opportunities.

Consultation closes on 30 October 2026. DVA encourages all interested stakeholders to get involved and have their say.
