Limited places available, enrol in the fully funded Mental Health Literacy and Suicide Prevention Training today!

DVA is committed to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of veterans and families of veterans.

We are offering funded Mental Health Literacy and Suicide Prevention Training delivered by leading early intervention and suicide prevention training providers, Mental Health First Aid International and LivingWorks.

The training is open to all members of the veteran community, including:

  • current and former members of the ADF
  • families, friends, carers, employers and colleagues of ex-serving and current ADF personnel, and
  • healthcare professionals and community members supporting veterans and the families of veterans and serving members.

The training is designed to help participants gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to provide support to veterans in crucial times of need. Participants will learn how to recognise and respond to signs of mental health problems and provide suicide first aid to loved ones, peers or colleagues – guiding them to safety and appropriate professional support.

Members of the veteran and ex-serving community are often the first point of contact for veterans who are experiencing mental health problems, distress, or crises. It is at these times that many of us feel ill equipped. Having the skills to help someone struggling with their mental health can be life changing and lifesaving.

Fully funded courses are offered online and as face-to-face workshops in all metropolitan and targeted regional areas in each state and territory. If you or someone you know are interested in improving your mental health literacy, so that you are better equipped to support someone who is at risk of suicide you can learn more and enrol online: www.mhfa.com.au/protect
