The Hobart Garden of Remembrance will close on 1 September 2026 for redevelopment works until December 2027.
For safety reasons, the Hobart War Cemetery may also need to close due to the scale and complexity of the works.
The Office of Australian War Graves (OAWG) encourages anyone who wishes to visit the current Garden of Remembrance to do so before the closure.
A temporary place of commemoration will be established to support visitors during the closure period.
Families can also search for and view images of individual commemorative plaques through the Office of Australian War Graves commemoration search on our website.
We recognise that the Hobart Garden of Remembrance is a place of great significance for many families and visitors.
