2024 Women Veterans Policy Forum event wrap

The Women Veterans Policy Forum is an annual event in the DVA calendar that we look forward to hosting every year.

The 2024, two-day Forum was recently held in Canberra. It was attended by 44 trailblazing women veterans, over 60% of whom were new to the Forum. DVA Secretary Alison Frame, and other senior executive were present to hear the veterans’ feedback and ideas first hand.

This key annual event provided participants the opportunity to connect, provide feedback on DVA policy and programs and discuss what further work can be done so women veterans are better supported. Topics discussed included:

  • Working for Women: A Strategy for Gender Equality
  • The draft Defence and Veteran Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy
  • MyService and the Digital Experience
  • Public Participation at DVA through Research, Engagement and Communications

The forum also included more than 10 presentations, delivered by Forum participants on initiatives happening within their community, covering topics that included, but were not limited, to the transition employment portal, guided mediation, supporting veteran victim-survivors of sexual violence, health after service, photographic portraits & video interviews with veterans and loved ones, plus more.

DVA would like to extend its gratitude to all of the participants for their valuable contribution to the 2024 Women Veterans Policy Forum.

Forum outcomes will be detailed in an upcoming report, which will be made available on the DVA website. For more information or to access past reports visit the Consultation with Women Veterans page.
