The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) and Services Australia have released new online training resources to help health providers submit claims more accurately and efficiently, enabling you to receive quicker payments for services provided under DVA arrangements.
Health providers can submit claims for DVA clients through multiple channels:
- DVA Webclaim via the Health Professional Online Services (HPOS) portal
- Electronic claiming through practice management software
- Paper-based claiming for providers who do not use online systems
Submitting complete and accurate claims helps reduce delays and avoid follow-up action. To support providers, there are training resources for both Medicare and DVA claiming.
Training for online claiming
For providers who use electronic claiming through practice management software, these modules help ensure claims are submitted correctly and efficiently.
This training covers:
- How online claiming works and its benefits for reducing manual processes
- Steps to configure and maintain your practice management software for DVA claims
- Common issues that can occur with online claiming and how to resolve them

NEW: Dedicated training resource for DVA Webclaim
For DVA Webclaim users, two key resources are available:
1. Submit a DVA Webclaim simulation
This interactive simulation allows providers to practice submitting a claim in a safe, test environment. It is perfect for:
- Providers new to DVA Webclaim
- Practices looking to refresh knowledge or train staff
The simulation provides a step-by-step walkthrough of the Webclaim process, including:
- Accessing DVA Webclaim
- Entering patient and service details
- Submitting a claim
- Identifying and resolving common validation errors
The simulation does not submit actual claims and therefore does not affect provider or client records. Providers can watch the full simulation or revisit specific sections as needed.
2. DVA Webclaim training module
In addition to the simulation, a comprehensive training module is available to guide you through the entire Webclaim process. This module explains how to use HPOS effectively, manage authorisations, and maintain accurate provider details helping reduce errors and minimise rejected claims.
