Leveraging technology to better support the veteran community

We are making it easier for DVA staff to support veterans and families with a new AI-enabled assistant, CLIKChat.

CLIKChat is designed to help staff easily navigate publicly available policy and compensation information and aims to improve the speed and accuracy of information for claims teams. The tool draws solely on public, non-personal information. It does not access client records or case management systems with strong safeguards.

CLIKChat is available only to participating DVA staff, and it is used as an information-support tool—not for decision making. Its development is supported by the Policy for the Responsible Use of AI in government and DVA’s recently released AI Transparency Statement, which outlines how the Department uses AI safely and responsibly.

CLIKChat forms part of DVA’s broader work to enhance staff capability and deliver more consistent, efficient services for veterans and families.

DVA continues to explore the safe and ethical use of AI across the department to support the veteran community. Our approach to AI is guided by testing, transparency, robust governance, and engagement with the community.
