Flag for LCPL Robbie 'Jock' Buchan
Army
Seeking Robbie's Australian national flag from the Vietnam Veteran's welcome home parade in Sydney on 3 October 1987. A national flag was purchased in memory of each of our KIA and it was presented to the family to lead the Parade down George Street. Some flags were carried by mates and stored for safe keeping. Robbie came to Australia from Scotland as a child, and his parents returned there after he joined the Army. He served in SVN with 6 RAR. Robbie was KIA on 11 December 1969 and his parents who have now both passed away did not receive his flag. Robbie's family is Scotland learnt about the flag and would love to locate it.

Show contact detailsSeeking stories from wives of Vietnam Veterans
Army
Stories needed for sequel to ‘Like Shadows in the Corner’. My book explores the experiences of wives/partners of soldiers who were deployed to the Vietnam War. We see a glimpse of how wives coped while their partners were away, how they were supported (or not supported), how their children also coped and what they experienced until their husband returned home. My book has been an outstanding success with hundreds of copies sold to date. Many people would have liked the opportunity to contribute to the book and suggested I write a second book. I am the wife of a Vietnam Veteran, and my story is included in my first book, so I can relate to the stories I will receive. There are no restrictions on the length of your story and no restrictions on what you can write about in relation to the time your husband was away. You can use your real name or an alias if you choose. It’s all up to you! Your story will be published just as you write it with no editing. All contributors will receive a free copy of the book once published. If you wish to contribute your story, please email me. If you know the wife of a Vietnam Veteran, can you please make them aware of the pending sequel to my book as they may wish to contribute. Hoping to receive lots of stories!

I am doing intensive research for High School. Most personnel did one tour of South Vietnam, some did two whilst a few did three whereas the ADF sent personnel to Afghanistan on multiple deployments up to ten or more. I am trying to ascertain the numbers of multiple deployments for Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Timor Leste etc. I do not seek personal names or unit details. I just want the numbers in each bracket of tours/deployments. This information will also assist with a submission to the responsible Minister.
