Help clients access our medicine organiser service
Our medicine organiser service is also known as the dose administration aid (DAA) service. We provide the service to help our clients take the right dose of medicine at the right time. We pay the fees of providers that help deliver the service.

The DAA service provides veterans and their dependents with a medicine organiser pack to make it easier to take the right dose of medicine at the right time.
A pharmacist follows the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia guidelines to prepare the organiser pack and advise the client on how to use it.

Who can access the service
To access the service a client must:
- hold either a Gold, White or Veteran Orange Card
- not be living in a residential care facility or hospital
Doctors and pharmacists should consider:
- if the client is struggling to take their medicine correctly
- if the client has a lot of medications or a complex regime
Help a client access the service
If you are a GP, you can help a client access the service. Take the following steps:
1. Consult with your client to assess their need for the DAA.
2. Call the Veterans' Affairs Pharmaceutical Advisory Centre (VAPAC) on 1800 552 580 to get 2 authority prescriptions which will cover the client for the 6 month service.
3. Give the prescriptions to the client and advise them to give the prescriptions to a pharmacist who will prepare the medicine organiser pack each week.Back to top
Extend the service
After the client has been using the DAA service for 20 weeks, the pharmacist will review how the client has been using the medicine organiser pack.
The pharmacist will:
- fill out our Veteran's Six Month Review (VSMR) form
- contact the GP who referred the client, provide the completed VSMR form and offer advice on whether the client should continue with the DAA service
How to pay pharmacists
Pharmacists can claim our DAA fee through the Repatriation Schedule of Pharmaceutical Benefits (RPBS) using authority prescriptions.

For providing the DAA on a weekly basis during the 6 month cycle.
For conducting the Veteran’s Six Month Review (VSMR).
