Consultation with Veteran Families

The Veteran Families Policy Forum provides a platform for veteran family members to raise issues directly with the Australian Government and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA), and to create new channels of communication between DVA and the community.

The Forum is one way government and DVA are listening to veteran families and using their feedback to co-design future DVA policy and service delivery options.

The inaugural Veteran Families Policy Forum (the Forum) was held in 2016. Subsequent Forums were conducted on 11 October 2017, 11-12 September 2018, 14-15 August 2019, 15-16 June 2022, and 20-21 June 2023. Virtual engagements continued through 2020 and 2021 to remain connected to the community and gather feedback during the COVID-19 pandemic period.

The Forum is attended by veteran family members and other representatives from the community. Registrations for the upcoming Forum are currently closed.

Forum Reports

Reports from each of the Forum engagements can be seen below.

Please note that this Forum was previously known as the Female Veterans & Veterans’ Families Policy Forum, where veteran family members attended the Forum concurrently with female veterans of the ADF. This event now exists separately, as the Women Veterans Policy Forum.
