Appeal a travel expense decision for travel for treatment
If we make a decision about reimbursing your travel expenses for travel for treatment that you do not agree with, you can ask us to review that decision. How you can do this depends on the Act you applied under.
Back to topAppealing a travel expense decision for travel for treatment made under the VEA
If you do not agree with a decision we have made under the VEA (for example, we did not reimburse you the amount you thought you should receive) you can ask to reconsider our decision.
A request to reconsider must:
- be in writing (such as in a letter, via an email to transport.claims@dva.gov.au or in the General Enquiries form)
- set out the grounds on which the request is made (for example, “I am requesting a review because…”)
- be made within 3 months after the day that we notified you of the decision.
The person who made your original decision will not take part in the reconsideration.
If you do not agree with the outcome of the reconsideration, you can appeal to the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART).
