Shining a spotlight on young people in the veteran community
This National Youth Week we are focusing on young people in Australia’s veteran community! Young people in the veteran community may be veterans navigating civilian life, or family members of veterans providing support to their veteran.
National Youth Week is a week-long celebration of young people and their unique experiences and perspectives. It promotes opportunities for them to share ideas, contribute to the community and access support if needed.
Take the time this week to rally around the youth in your community — reach out to your family members and any younger veterans you may know.
Over the next week we will be showcasing some of the programs, services and support we provide to young veterans and their families, and children of veterans on our social media pages.
We will be exploring the following services and programs:
- DVA’s Education Schemes
- Family Support Package
- Support and resources for schools, including our Anzac Day School Awards
- Kookaburra kids
- Supporting Younger Veterans grants program
- Open Arms counselling for children and families
