Extra support for the Aged Care sector

The Government is providing considerable resources to strengthen the aged care sector during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure all elderly Australians, including veterans and their families, are supported.

DVA’s community care programs, including Veterans Home Care and Community Nursing, continue to provide services to veterans and their families in their own homes. DVA is in regular contact with providers to monitor and respond to issues arising which may cause disruptions in services.

Welfare checks will be conducted on senior Australians who have elected to defer aged care home services during the COVID-19 pandemic. DVA community nursing providers will also be able to conduct wellbeing checks for DVA clients whose services are reduced or deferred either due to personal choice or provider workforce issues.
