150th Anniversary of Australian Artillery
The Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery (RAA) yesterday marked the 150th anniversary of Australian Artillery.
A synchronised Gun Salute fired from locations across states and territories took place to commemorate the anniversary.
A Commemorative Service honouring past and serving members of the RAA and its forerunners was also held at Mount Pleasant in Canberra.
The story of the Australian Artillery originates on 1 August 1871, when the NSW Colonial Government funded and raised its first permanent battery.
The RAA will conduct a series of commemorative activities between August and December to celebrate and highlight the commencement and ongoing continuous service of the RAA and its various Australian Artillery forebears.
