Funding announced for a Veterans’ and Families’ Hub in Ipswich, Queensland
Today, the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs announced that the Australian Government is providing RSL Queensland with a grant of $5.445 million to establish a Veterans’ and Families’ Hub in Ipswich, Queensland.
RSL Queensland will collaborate with Mates4Mates and Go2Health to support veterans and families living in the Ipswich region, which has a significant population of current and former serving members.
More than 10,000 local veterans and families who live in Ipswich and the surrounding regions – plus an additional 5,000 Defence personnel at the RAAF Base in Amberley – will soon have better access to tailored medical and mental health services and support, social connection and emotional wellbeing services when the new multidisciplinary facility is established.
RSL Queensland will provide a no-wrong-door approach to connecting veterans and their families to services and support. The new Ipswich Hub will be a multidisciplinary, holistic facility, which will support veterans and their families to access the right care, at the right time, in the right place, to address their wellbeing needs.
The proposed service model includes a dedicated focus on medical interventions within the hub, the provision of mental health services, social connectedness and emotional wellbeing services.
All current and ex-serving ADF members and their families can access support at any Veterans’ and Families’ Hub.
In the October 2022 Budget, the Australian Government committed $46.7 million for eight new Veterans’ and Families’ Hubs to be established across the country. The commitment included the continuation of work underway to establish hubs in Southeast Queensland and Tasmania.
