Government Response to Adaptive Sports Inquiry

Overview

The Australian Government supports veterans’ participation in sport as a tool for rehabilitation, transition, wellbeing and social connection, and recognises the importance of improving access for veterans who wish to participate.

On 23 November 2022, the Senate referred an inquiry into adaptive sport programs for Australian Defence Force veterans to the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade References Committee (the Committee).

The Committee’s report, Adaptive sport programs for Australian Defence Force veterans, was tabled in the Senate on 8 May 2023 and made 12 recommendations.

The Government response to the report was tabled in Parliament on 15 September 2026. The Government thanks the Committee for its work on the inquiry, as well as those who provided submissions and appeared at hearings.
