Compensation payment rates for DRCA and the Defence Act

Last updated

This page provides the current rates of compensation benefits that may be payable under the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation (Defence-related Claims) Act 1988 (DRCA) and the Defence Act 1903.

From 1 July 2026, new claims can no longer be made under the DRCA or the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986 (VEA). Grandfathering arrangements will apply to existing benefits approved under the VEA and DRCA. Payments, except for DRCA incapacity payments, will continue uninterrupted and be indexed as normal.

Where a claim was lodged before 1 July 2026 it will be assessed and determined under the relevant existing legislation.

Note: All rates of compensation in this page are current from 1 July 2025. Rates should be checked with DVA for any changes after that date.
