Veterans’ Health Week – how you can get involved
As one of the milestone events for veterans, families and broader communities, Veterans’ Health Week (VHW) is a great initiative to be involved in. This years’ theme Eat Well focuses on healthy eating habits, improving your nutrition knowledge and doing what feels right for you.
VHW officially runs from 1-9 October, but with all the events and activities spanning across September and October, there are plenty of ways for you or your ex-service organisation (ESO) or community group to get involved.
ESOs and community groups interested in holding an event or activity for VHW are reminded to submit their applications to receive $720 in funding to run an event for veterans and families in your local area. Applications for funding close 30 September 2022.
The DVA website offers a variety of resources to inspire and support those delivering events and activities around the country. This includes a supermarket guide on how to navigate the supermarket and read nutritional labels, videos on ingredients, nutrition and portion sizes to learn about the food you eat, and a recipe template to create and share your own healthy recipe.
Promotional resources such as posters and social media tiles to promote your event are also available.
Events and activities will be listed on the DVA website for anyone interested in attending. Please note, some events may require registration or have an event capacity, so ensure you contact your local organisers of Veterans’ Health Week to register your participation.
With lots of exciting events happening this Veterans’ Health Week across Australia, so there is bound to be something for everyone to enjoy.

Don’t forget, if you are hosting an event, make sure to use the hashtag #VeteransHealthWeek so we can see and share your activities. We look forward to seeing the creative ways ESO’s and community groups participate in this year’s Veterans Health Week!
