Prime Ministerial Advisory Council on Veterans’ Mental Health
Members of the Council have a range of expertise and lived experience. They include veterans, current serving Defence members, families of serving and ex-serving members, and health care professionals. This experience allows the Council to represent the veteran community, and advise the Government on how best to support veterans and their families to serve, live and age well.
The last regular meeting of the Council was 12 November 2020. This was the first meeting for a number of new members of the Council. The summary of that meeting and full membership list can be found on the Council’s website.
The Council strongly encourages any person affected by the Inspector-General Australian Defence Force (IGADF) Afghanistan Inquiry or the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic to reach out for help and support, including through Open Arms – Veterans and Families Counselling, DVA or other support services such as Lifeline.
The Council is pleased to support the DVA Meet Our Veterans campaign and is encouraging veterans to contribute their stories to this insightful project. They can do so via communications [at] dva.gov.au.
More information on the Council, including summaries of their meetings and biographies of the members, can be found at www.pmac.dva.gov.au.
