A message from Defence Families of Australia

Defence family members with a passion for advocacy and who want to make a positive impact on the Defence community are encouraged to apply for a role with the Defence Families of Australia (DFA) team.

There are four current vacancies for National Delegates, in four regions:

·        Western Australia (based in Perth)

·        Northern Territory and Kimberley (based in Darwin)

·        South Australia (based in Adelaide)

·        Victoria and Tasmania* (based in Victoria)

* Please note this is a temporary role until 30 June 2023

National Delegates are appointed for an initial term of one year.

National Delegates are the heart and soul of DFA’s advocacy work, representing the families of current serving members within a set region.

This role will see you building relationships with Defence Australia representatives, Defence families and stakeholders such as Defence Member and Family Support, Toll, Defence Housing Australia and other Defence community groups.

DFA is the official families advisory body to the Minister for Defence Personnel and the Chief of the Defence Force.

The DFA team is connected to Defence family communities in our regions, and are largely veterans or family of current serving Australian Defence Force members.

We appreciate the different lived experiences and professional qualifications each individual brings to the team.
