Income support is available

If you or your family member have served in the Australian Defence Force and are not able to work or need financial support, you may be eligible for an income support payment from DVA.

DVA offers a range of income support payments and benefits to support the livelihoods of veterans and their families. Some British, Commonwealth and Allied veterans who served in some past conflicts in which Australia was involved may also be eligible for income support payments and benefits from DVA. This may also apply to their families. Entitlements may depend on when the veteran served and their type of service.

There are many different types of support payments, including regular payments as well as extra allowances. Having qualifying service allows you to access a service pension. Information on the service pension and the details of qualifying service can be found on the ‘Qualifying service’ page of the DVA website.

To read more about the types of income support payments we provide and to check your eligibility, visit the ‘Income support’ page of the DVA website.
