Get support through Kookaburra Kids

For the past few years, DVA has partnered with the Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation, an organisation dedicated to improving the lives of young people.

The Kookaburra Kids Defence Kids Program is designed for children from serving and ex-serving ADF families. It gives a support system to youth aged between 8-18 years to help with the challenges of being a child of an ADF member. Children can join in on fun events like camps, activity days and age-appropriate mental health education that focuses on teaching coping skills and resilience.

During these events, participants meet other children going through the same challenges. This gives children a sense of belonging and a feeling of being understood, helping them feel that they are not alone. The bonds made during these events and the skills children learn can help them build a strong foundation to tackle various challenges that come their way.

Anyone can refer an ADF child to the program. If you are looking for more information on the Defence Kids Program or for details on how to refer your child, head over to the Kookaburra Kids website.
