Expressions of interest open for Adaptive Sports Program
With Olympics and Paralympics fever taking over the nation, now is the perfect time to talk sport. There is a wide range of benefits to sport, both physical and mental, and it has been shown that sport can have a positive impact during recovery and rehabilitation.
One program that is a great avenue into sport for any wounded, injured or ill serving and ex-serving military personnel is the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Adaptive Sports Program.
Over the past 12 months, unfortunately the COVID-19 pandemic meant that activities under the program had to be dialled back. However, they are now likely to increase again heading into the years ahead.
Applications are now open for expressions of interest for competitor and coaching positions in the 2021–23 program. This could be the first step towards competing at a future Invictus Games, or even domestically around Australia.
If you are interested in applying for the ADF Adaptive Sports Program make sure you visit the Department of Defence website. The closing date for expressions of interest is 31 September 2021.
