Celebrating World Health Day 2023

For 75 years, the World Health Organization (WHO) has championed better health for all people in the world and giving everyone an equal chance to live a healthy life. Annually on 7 April, the WHO celebrates World Health Day and this year’s theme, Health For All, encourages us to reflect on our own health – and plan a better health future for tomorrow.

At DVA, we support the health of veterans and families through a range of services and programs, many of which can be accessed with a Veteran Card. Card holders can use their Veteran Card to pay for approved health treatment, similar to how the Medicare card works.

The level of support you can receive through your Veteran Card varies depending on which card you have, however everyone who has a Veteran Card is entitled to free mental health treatment, regardless of the nature of the mental health issue or whether it’s linked to service. Your Veteran Card also allows you access to exclusive offers and benefits from businesses, organisations and community groups that support the Australian Defence Veterans’ Covenant.

If you do not currently have access to a Veteran Card and believe you may be entitled to one, you can apply through your MyService account.

To find out more about the Veteran Card visit the webpage on the DVA website.
