Are you eligible for the Service Pension?

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) provides many different types of financial support to those who have served in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) including the Service Pension. We recognise that the impacts of service can reduce the length of time you are able to keep working. For that reason, you may be eligible for the Service Pension at a younger age than the social security age pension.

The Service Pension provides a regular fortnightly payment to eligible veterans and their partners. As it is an income support payment, your income and assets affect how much you can receive.

There are three different types of Service Pension:

  • Age Service Pension
  • Invalidity Service Pension
  • Partner Service Pension

Eligibility criteria for each of these pensions vary.  Eligibility is dependent on the veteran meeting the residency requirements, having Qualifying Service, and their working status and age.
