Active Choices: a new physical activity program
DVA has engaged the University of Queensland (UQ) to develop and trial a new program called Active Choices, that aims to help DVA clients become more physically active and socially connected within their local community. This program will discover ways that DVA can help our clients age well through physical activity.
The team at UQ are currently looking for DVA clients interested in getting help to manage their physical activity. The program may also benefit DVA clients who are seeking to reconnect with their local communities following the easing of local COVID-19 restrictions. Given the impact of COVID-19, the UQ team has put in place additional safety measures to ensure the research environment is safe for you.
To be eligible to participate, you must be a DVA Gold or White Card holder receiving treatment from an exercise physiologist or physiotherapist, and assessed as being able to safely participate in physical activity without supervision. Please note, participating in this program will not change your treatment arrangements; it will be in addition to any treatment you are already receiving.
Participants can start the 12-week program anytime from now until June 2021.
If you are ready to make an Active Choice, or would like more information about the Active Choices program, visit the Active Choices website or contact the Senior Research Assistant, Dr Zoe Papinczak on z.papinczak [at] uq.edu.au or 0400 178 412.
By joining this research study, you will be helping inform future initiatives that benefit the health and wellbeing of the veteran community.
