Invictus Australia and True Grit join forces to help veterans overcome obstacles

A message from Invictus Australia

Invictus Australia, the not-for-profit dedicated to strengthening the wellbeing of veterans and families through sport, is thrilled to announce a partnership with True Grit, Australia's premier obstacle-course race series.

True Grit is offering an allocation of free tickets to veterans – serving and ex-serving as well as family members – who are part of ‘Team Veteran’, established by Invictus Australia. To join Team Veteran, you can can email us at support [at] invictusaustralia.org

The partnership comes off the back of the successful Team Veteran inclusion at the recent True Grit: South Australia event. Fourteen wounded, injured and ill veterans took on the 10-kilometre military-style urban obstacle course (see images), thanks to funding from the Invictus Games Foundation’s Endeavour Fund.

The collaboration is a collective effort to promote physical fitness, mental resilience, and community integration among veterans, fostering an environment in which they can thrive.

‘The collaboration between Invictus Australia and True Grit is a testament to the shared belief in the indomitable spirit of our veterans,’ said Invictus Australia CEO, Michael Hartung. ‘Together, we will create ongoing opportunities around the country for more veterans to experience the growth, camaraderie, and sense of achievement felt by completing a True Grit course.’

True Grit Director, Tom Gilmartin, agreed: ‘[We are] honoured to be joining forces with Invictus Australia, given our courses are inspired by the incredible spirit of our military personnel. We have always admired the resilience and determination of our veterans, and through this partnership, we can harness the power of our events to empower them on their journey of recovery, wellness or reintegration.’

We will have an allocation of free places at every True Grit around Australia for people joining ‘Team Veteran’, and then once we exhaust the free allocation, a discount will apply. The Invictus Australia Veteran Engagement Manager in each state will act as team captain and manage all logistics, uniforms and so on. We will put people in touch with their local Veteran Engagement Manager.
