DVA Supporting Veterans and Families at Avalon Airshow 2025
The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) had a strong presence at the Avalon Australian International Airshow 2025, ensuring that veterans, current serving members, and their families had access to vital information and support throughout the event.

DVA had representatives from the Community Support Team (CST), the Veteran Support Office (VSO), the Veteran Employment Program (VEP) and Open Arms – Veterans & Families Counselling Service on-site in the Defence Community Marquee. The CST provided information on the services available to support veterans and their families including where to access mental health and wellbeing support and resources, transition support and how to access financial assistance. The team was ready to connect with attendees and answer any questions.
A VSO highlighted opportunities for current serving members to access assistance with lodging claims, navigating entitlements, and planning for their separation and transitioning to civilian life. Their presence helped ensure that those in uniform were well-informed about the support available to them, both now and in the future.
During the trade days, the VEP team took an active role engaging with organisations to promote the benefits the VEP and the Veteran Employment Committee (VEC), an initiative of the VEP. The VEP provides advice and resources on a broad range of topics including recruiting veterans, retaining and supporting veteran employees with practical advice and tools that organisations can implement. By joining the VEC, organisations can be recognised for their workplace policies and practices that support veteran employment and have their logo included in the VEC database on the VEP website.
DVA’s involvement at Avalon 2025 reinforced its commitment to supporting veterans and their families, ensuring they have access to the resources, information, and connections they need to thrive.
