Darwin Veterans’ and Families’ Hub now open

The Veterans’ and Families’ Hubs network has expanded in the Northern Territory (NT), with the Mates4Mates Veteran and Family Wellbeing Centre opening its doors in Stuart Park today. The brand new, customised facility was officially opened by the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Matt Keogh at an event with local veterans and families.

This is the second hub location to open in the NT. Mates4Mates has been providing support from their Palmerston site since May 2021. Services will now be provided at Palmerston and Stuart Park, helping veterans and families across the Top End to access essential services from two locations.

Mates4Mates will work closely with partners, including Open Arms – Veterans and Families Counselling, Soldier On and Kookaburra Kids Foundation to provide services such as assistance with transition, employment, family, advocacy services and mental health support. All current and former serving personnel including reserves and their families can access these services.

The Mates4Mates Veteran and Family Wellbeing Centre is part of the Australian Government’s commitment to deliver a network of Veterans’ and Families’ Hubs across the country. There are now six established hub locations across Australia. The expansion of hubs into Southeast Queensland and Tasmania is underway, and there are also a further eight hub locations that were announced in the October 2022 Budget.

We look forward to seeing Mates4Mates continue to provide this important support to the veteran community. For more details about the Veterans’ and Families’ Hubs, visit www.dva.gov.au/vfhubs
