    Eventually all Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel will make the change from military to civilian life. Although the Department of Defence has primary responsibility for members transitioning from the ADF, DVA supports Defence through a range of programmes and is adopting a more proactive approach to meet the needs of current serving and transitioning members.

    The Advocacy Training and Development Program (ATDP) provides training, support and accreditation for military advocates. These advocates provide assistance and advice to current and former Australian Defence Force members and their families with accessing DVA benefits and services.
