This page gives you information about the costs associated with Veterans’ Review Board (VRB) hearings and whose responsibility they are.
There are no charges made by the VRB for a hearing.
You will need to pay the costs of any representation you choose to have at your hearing, including travel costs.
You are also responsible for the expenses of any lawyer you engage to help you prepare your case. Lawyers cannot appear as a representative at a VRB hearing, but can help to prepare a case. For more information, see Who can represent you at VRB hearings.
You can apply to DVA to be reimbursed the costs of obtaining medical evidence (including associated travel costs) in support of your application. Certain conditions apply and you should contact DVA General Enquiries using the details listed under More Information. The VRB is not involved in the processing of these claims.
You can apply to DVA be reimbursed for the cost of some travel expenses. The VRB will tell you more about this when it lets you know the date for your hearing.
