We have created courses and tools to help you to understand the mental health services available for veterans and their families.

We can also help you to find resources that are for people other than veterans.

What we offer

We offer courses and materials so you can:

  • learn about the common mental health issues that veterans and their families experience
  • better understand the veteran experience
  • find the DVA programs that best suit your client

These courses cover a variety of health issues that your clients may be experiencing. We have programs and courses to teach you how to make a claim.                                                                                                                            

vetAWARE

a course for community nurses. The Royal College of Nursing Australia endorses this program.

PTSD — Psychological Interventions:

a program to help mental health professionals learn more about the preferred treatments for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). 

Understanding the Military Experience:

a program that will teach you about the impact of military experience on the mental health of veterans and ex-service personnel. 

Non-liability health care (NLHC) — online training:

a course that will give you information about NLHC including:

  • who is eligible
  • the conditions that it covers
  • how to apply

AT-Ease

Through AT-Ease you will have access to a catalogue of free webinars.

We develop these webinars with the Mental Health Professionals Network. AT-Ease schedules new webinars every 3 months. The recordings are available on the website soon after.

AT-Ease also has a list of online training programs from Australia and the United States of America. The program's focus on the different ways to treat mental health. Universities and government agencies provide these programs. 

Veterans' Medicines Advice and Therapeutics Education Services (Veterans' MATES)

Veterans’ MATES is a project that aims to improve the use of medicines in the veteran community.

Beyondblue

Beyondblue have a range of free resources for those who work in mental health. The resources have a focus on people who are:

  • pregnant
  • young
  • LGBTIQ+
  • living in aged care

Phoenix Australia: Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health

Phoenix Australia offers courses and training materials so you learn more about post-traumatic stress. They host courses around Australia, and they provide access to training materials. Some of the materials and courses cost money.
