Building Excellence in Support and Training grants

What are BEST grants?

Building Excellence in Support and Training (BEST) grants support ex-service organisations (ESOs) in providing compensation and welfare assistance to the Defence and veteran communities.

These grants are calculated using a formula based on each eligible organisation's advocacy workload, calculated as a percentage of the national workload. This percentage is then used to determine that organisations share of the available funding.

This grants program links closely with the Advocacy Training and Development Program, which provides training, support and accreditation for advocates.

For more information see Factsheet GS02 — Building Excellence in Support and Training.

When will the next round of BEST grants open?

The next BEST round is expected to open on 8 March 2018 and close on 19 April 2018. At this time you will be able to lodge your application online from the Community Grants Hub.

When the round opens all relevant Grant Guidelines and 'how to apply' information will be available on the Community Grants Hub.

To receive an email when grants are open for applications, go to the Community Grants Hub and select 'Subscribe for updates'.

How do I apply for a BEST grant?

From 8 March 2018 you will apply for a BEST grant online through the Community Grants Hub.

What if I need help to apply online?

Once the BEST grants round opens, assistance can be provided through the Community Grants Hub.

For assistance, email support@communitygrants.gov.au or phone 1800 020 283.

If you think you will need help, it is best to ask for that help early. This will ensure that any issues can be worked through in time for your application to be considered for funding.
