Consultation with female veterans and veterans' families

The Female Veterans and Veterans' Families Forum  provides a platform for female veterans and veterans' families to generate ideas to solve issues facing their communities, co-design DVA products and services, and build networks across represented cohorts.

The inaugural Female Veterans and Veterans' Families Policy Forum (the Forum) was held in 2016. Subsequent Forums were conducted on 10 and 11 October 2017, and 11 and 12 September 2018. The next Forum will be held in late 2019.

The Forum is attended by female veterans, veterans' family members and other representatives from the veteran community.

In December 2018, the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, the Hon Darren Chester MP, announced the establishment of a Council for Women and Families United by Defence Service (the Council). The Council will build on the work of the Forum by providing a formal mechanism for providing advice to the Minister on high level and complex strategic matters relating to women and families impacted by defence service.
