The Veterans’ Practitioner Activity Database (VPAD) assists ex-service organisation (ESO) practitioners record and manage claimant details and key details of their casework. VPAD was developed in consultation with ESO practitioners and was initially installed at approximately 70 sites throughout the country in late 2003 and early 2004.
It is available free to all suitably trained ESO practitioners.
VPAD allows a user to record details about a clients pension claims, appeals, and entitlements. It also assists ESO practitioners in managing their cases by allowing them to set reminders and record general information on welfare services and interviews. VPAD can also produce status reports for specified time periods and generate a report to assist in the application for BEST grants.
While the VPAD package includes an installation and user guide training and installation assistance are also available. For any queries or issues regarding VPAD, please contact you local TIP Chair. See below.

Various fixes, changes and improvements have been made to VPAD Version 5. The major changes are summarised below. For a complete and detailed list see VPAD Version 5 - Release Notes under Documents.
VPAD has now added welfare recording ability. The will allow recording of the welfare activities performed by practitioners. These statistics will also appear on the BEST report generated from VPAD.
The BEST Report has been refined to include new welfare activities statistics and had been modified to assist with BEST Grant Applications.
Installation and Automatic Updates
VPAD is now easier to install and upgrade from previous versions. VPAD will also automatically notify users of updates and patches when they are available.
Redesigned Claimant Screens
Various screens that display claimant information have been updated to allow easier input and viewing of information.
The VPAD toolbar has had four changes:
- the VPAD Online button has been changed to link to CLIK online;
- a NEW Welfare Activities button has been added;
- the EXIT button has been removed; and
- the icons have been updated.
Improved Help Information
All Help pages have been updated to reflect changes made in Version 5. Screen shots and more detailed information to assist users has also been added.
VPAD Version 5 has been tested against the most popular Microsoft operating systems; Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. It has also been tested with Microsoft Word 2003 and 2010.
There are a few things we suggest you do before installing or updating to version 5:
- Review the Version 5 information guides found in the Documents section.
- Backup your current database.
- Ask for help if you have any questions or concerns. See Training and Installation Help section.
- Download and Copy. If you prefer to download version 5 for portable use or copying to a CD/DVD, or USB thumb drive the files are located under the Downloads section. This allows distribution to users without internet access.
To install VPAD, you will need a system that meets the following minimum requirements.
- Windows XP, Windows Vista (32-bit/64-bit) or Windows 7 (32-bit/64-bit).
- Microsoft Word 2003 or 2010.
Please note that support cannot be given for users who do not meet the minimum requirements.

This section details the known issues regarding VPAD Version 5 and, most importantly will provide information on how to resolve or work around those issues.

It is recommended that the following steps are followed:

|Patch 1 for v4.0.0||11/08/05||Download the file VPAD4_Fix01.exe (size 0.3 Meg). Right click on the file link. On the menu that appears, select Save Target As or Save Link As. A Save As dialog box appears. Select the location on your computer that you wish to save the file to (e.g. My Documents). Then click Save. Once the download is complete, go to the location on your computer that you saved the file to and double-click on it to install the program. Follow the on-screen instructions provided. NOTE: You will need to run this patch on all computers that have VPAD Version 4 installed.||VPAD4_Fix01 (EXE 1 KB)|
