Outreach in South Australia

The Outreach program in South Australia provides information on Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) benefits and entitlements to assist the veteran community in accessing health and other community services. The aim of the program is to promote and maintain self-sufficiency, well-being and quality of life amongst members of the veteran community.

Outreach services are provided to the veteran communities in metropolitan and regional South Australia. In the lead up to visits posters are distributed in the community and letters are sent to clients.

Individual Appointments

Services include a trial of offering individual appointments outside of metropolitan Adelaide. The interviews provide the opportunity to discuss personal circumstances and to ensure access to information on the wide range of services available. Home visits can also be organised in exceptional circumstances.

Information Seminars

Information seminars are also provided. Topics include those listed below. Other topics are available on request.

Healthy Wealthy & Wise - Information on the quality use of medications and tips for saving money by managing medicines effectively. How to maintain optimal physical and mental health & how DVA may be able to assist.

Planning Ahead - Bereavement - Bereavement Issues and how they may affect your DVA payments. Information on DVA benefits and services including information on funeral benefits, Office of Aust War Graves, wills, powers of attorney and guardianship.

Home but not Alone - Presentation explaining what assistance may be available to older people who would like to live independently and safely in their own home. Includes information on Aged care assessments, packages of care and other DVA & community services.
