Health Services

Health Services Delivery | Medical & Allied Health| Repatriation Transport | Health Contracts & Pharmacy Services

The role of the section is to administer the provision of health services to the veteran community for the SA/NT office. To access these services the veterans must be eligible to receive benefits through the Department and hold a Gold Treatment Entitlement Card or a White Treatment Entitlement Card.

Gold Cards entitle veterans to treatment for all conditions.

White Cards entitle veterans to treatment for those disabilities which are accepted as war or service related.

Services are provided through contracted health providers such as Local Medical Officers, Allied Health Providers, Community Nursing Providers, contracted hospitals both public and private, contracted transport providers and other contracted agencies which provide equipment or services.

The business of this section has changed over recent years from a more direct service provision environment to one of developing and managing appropriate contracts. In addition the section is responsible for paying accounts for the services provided through contract arrangements, providing information to providers and veterans on services available, how to access those services and how to arrange payment for services provided. (Those services provided through contracted health providers are paid through the Health Insurance Commission).

This area comprises two sections:
