Medical Rehabilitation

Medical rehabilitation is the provision of medical and allied health services specifically aimed at treating your accepted conditions to help achieve recovery and well being. This may involve medical treatment, surgical intervention, physiotherapy, or pain management and is normally coordinated by a treating medical practitioner.

Under the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (SRCA) and the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004 (MRCA) in cases of severe injury or complex multiple injuries DVA can engage a Rehabilitation Service Provider to help you access and coordinate your treatment needs.

The Rehabilitation Service Provider may also do a home assessment to determine if any aids or appliances, or modifications can be provided to ensure you can live as independently as possible.

If your claim is accepted under the Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986 (VEA) you can access general rehabilitation services such as medical treatment and aids and appliances with your Repatriation Health Card. See Benefits & services for more information about what services you may be entitled to.
