The Carer Recognition Act 2010 (the Act) strengthens the Australian Government’s commitment to recognise and respond to the needs of carers so that they have rights, choices, opportunities and capabilities to participate in economic, social and community life.
DVA has ensured that veterans and war widows and widowers are specifically identified in the associated implementation plan and DVA is committed to improving support to carers.
National Carer Support Services Self-paced Learning Package
In 2013, Carers Victoria, in conjunction with DVA developed a self-paced training package for provider staff and management with a focus on:
- carers, their issues and needs
- the Carer Recognition Act 2010 (the Act)
- compliance with the Act.
