DVA Webclaim Overview

Important notice for Allied Health, optical and dental providers using DVA Webclaim

On 3 December 2017, the allied health channel of DVA Webclaim was integrated with the DVA medical Webclaim channel.

From this date, health professionals submitting claims online for DVA clients using Webclaim are now directed to a single entry point with the integration used by allied health (including dental and optical providers) and medical providers into one single, easy to use, entry point for all service providers (more information below).

What advantages do Allied Health providers see with the change?

The enhancement offers allied health providers with a more efficient claim lodgement process and improved work flow. The enhanced version of DVA Webclaim allows allied health providers to submit a greater number of services in a claim – an improvement on the previous version.

The new streamlined version of DVA Webclaim is accessible via: HPOS – Health Professionals Online Services Portal.

What about Medical providers?

Other than seeing the one access option - “DVA Webclaim” (as opposed to Medical DVA Webclaim and Allied Health DVA Webclaim shown previously), Medical Providers have not been affected by the DVA Webclaim enhancement.

What is DVA Webclaim?

DVA Webclaim is a no-cost online service that was developed to improve the claiming experience for practices lodging claims by paper. Since DVA Webclaim launched in late 2014, those providers that have made the switch to DVA Webclaim have been reaping the benefits with a reduction in the administrative burdens associated with preparing and lodging paper based claims and the ability to confirm the outcome of claims lodged instantly in most cases.

DVA Webclaim is not available to hospitals and community nursing providers.

How to access DVA Webclaim?

To access DVA Webclaim providers require a DHS Provider Digital Access (PRODA) account. PRODA is an online authentication system based on a username, password and verification code to log in and is designed to provide secure access to specific government services. PRODA is digital, portable, and unlike PKI individual certificates, doesn’t need additional hardware or software to be installed to access multiple services. Users can change and manage their PRODA account details online including changing name or contact details.

  1. Sign up: PRODA - Provider Digital Access
  2. Log In: HPOS - Health professionals Online Services Portal
  3. Claim: DVA WEBCLAIM the fast, no cost online claiming solution for Health Providers

How do I create a PRODA account?

A PRODA account can be created by completing the following steps:

  1. Create your account – you need to provide basic personal information, create a username and password, and provide contact information for the secure management of your account.
  2. Verify your identity – verify your identity online using federal, state and territory government-issued identity documents that requires you to provide key information from your documents.
  3. Select your service – you need to select HPOS

What do I need as a provider to access HPOS?

     •   A current Medicare provider number,


     •   Access to HPOS in the form of Provider Digital Access (PRODA).

If you have a current Medicare provider number and certain identity documents you can apply for PRODA access now.

  • Receive an instant response to verify if your claim is successful
  • Receive payment within two business days compared with twenty business days if you submit DVA claims by paper)
  • Access up to two years of your electronic DVA payment statements
  • Access and download up to two years of your DVA claiming history
  • Cancel/amend paid claims submitted on the same day
  • Use the HPOS secure messaging facility to ask DHS questions about your claims
  • Claims are entirely paperless and patient signatures are not required
