DVA health items indexed by 1.6% in 2019

A young carer with her elderly clientMonday, 22 July 2019 — DVA fees for dental and allied health items, and most medical services, were indexed by 1.6% on 1 July 2019.

The reintroduction of indexation is being phased in, commencing in 2017 and continuing in 2020.

In 2018, DVA dental and allied health items recommenced being indexed, except for optometry consultation items which have now been added this year.

In terms of medical services, indexation was reintroduced last year on standard GP consultations and specialist attendances, in line with MBS indexation.

From 1 July 2019, specialist procedures and the remaining GP services will also be indexed. Selected diagnostic imaging services are expected to be added in 2020.

The fee schedules on the DVA website, including software vendor files, have been updated to reflect the new fees.
